Coffin Works Cafe
A once under utilised meeting room was transformed into a flexible cafe space for a heritage visitor attraction
  • Heritage visitor attraction
  • Listed building
  • Revitalising underused space
  • Concept design and development
  • Budgeting and cost planning
  • Tendering with local builders

The new cafe aims to broaden the offering of the museum, as well as increasing dwell time and encouraging use of the courtyard.

Inspired by the manufacturing history of the space, we developed a scheme evolving from the ‘mess room’, with bare brick walls and enamal cups.

Working with a local joiner, we saved costs and added character by using repurposed solid wood floorboards.

“Quite simply our project would not have happened without Sculpt. We had a great concept, we had a funder, but the turnaround time was against us. Nevertheless, Sculpt managed to pull the detail together quickly and this is without a doubt down to the relationships they have built and respect he has among the contractors and suppliers they work with.
