Conversion of a derelict Grade II listed building into a modern private dental practice
  • Grade II listed building
  • Private squat dental practice
  • Residential units above

A new dental healthcare experience in a comforting and luxurious environment. The style was to be a modern reflection of the Georgian style of the host building.

the project required the renovation and conversion of a Grade II listed property in rural Leicestershire. The ground floor would be home to the new private dental practice with residential units on the first and second floor.

“From the word go, Sculpt provided great advice and guidance and really listened to what we wanted to achieve with the practice, and went above and beyond what others had provide to us.”

Harry Leak – Business Director

The final design took an individual approach to each of the main spaces. The client’s brief was to create a ‘homely’ feel and not mimic the sterile environments of most practices. This was achieved by taking a more domestic approach.

To add interest to the most viewed part of any dental practice – the surgery ceiling – we incorporated a calming JW Turner inspired image and illuminated it with cove lighting. Period features were included to make the building feel like it had always been this way, despite the substantial structural changes that had taken place behind the scenes.

The space is finished with a mixture of furniture styles, incorporating rich, modern fabrics and elegant metallic details. The variety of decorative elements, furniture and artwork help to add to the homely feel of the space, creating a familiar atmosphere that even the most nervous of clients can feel calmed within.
