A cafe and therapy space for a mental health charity

grounded. is a place to relax, recover, and recoup. Housed in a former medical practice, the building was fully renovated and reconfigured to create a comforting, relaxing and flexible space that is accessible to everyone.

A muted palette of earthy colours and natural materials, including cork wallpaper and terracotta tiles, help to soften and disconnect the space from more traditional medical environments associated with mental health services.

The brand identity was refined by Studio Denley, with the guidelines being honoured through the application of signage both inside and out.

Off the main cafe space, cosy therapy rooms in a calming, natural palette are used for various individual and group therapy sessions.

Materiality was carefully considered throughout to add texture and a sense of quality. Table tops from Foresee are made with recycled dust from their manufacturing process. Tiling to the front of the counter is raw and unfinished, both with their own quirks, interest and imperfections.
