grounded. St Paul’s

  • Grade II Listed Building
  • Conservation Area
  • Key focus on accessibility
  • Development of physical identity for new brand
  • Full design service from initial measured surveys to handover

This new community mental health cafe in a Grade II Listed Building was the third space we had designed for Living Well Consortium. The building had unique challenged, being Grade II Listed and in a conservation area, with a tricky layout.

The building is the largest in the grounded spaces and served a different community. It would also host some of the partner organisations who work with Living Well, creating a new mental health hub.

Improvements were made to the internal layout to improve operations and accessibility, introducing a new ramped route to an accessible toilet and activity spaces, all of which required listed building consent. We developed the scheme to include new finishes fitting of the local area and additional uses of the building while still maintaining the identifiable core brand we had helped to establish at Selly Oak and Hall Green.

The building was fully refurbished and redecorated within a tight budget to fit the grounded brand, creating a key space for the client’s mental health services and partners.

Sculpt supported at every stage, from initial feasibility consultation and measured surveys, through to detailed design, specification and handover.

“Sculpt really take into consideration not only the project itself but also its impact and response to the wider community. They have gone to great lengths to include local independent companies in our projects.

They fully understood our culture and ambitions, helping us to develop our own brand ideals from scratch.

We’ve had thoroughly positive comments on the look and feel of the interior, the attention to the importance of lighting particularly. The interior brand that Sculpt created has been easily adapted for our additional sites. They have made a conscious effort to create efficient designs that have saved time and cost.”
