Our First Community Event

I’ve been thinking a lot about the social value we create as part of our work and I’m currently exploring how Sculpt can shift to be a social enterprise. It’s all part of our thoughtful interior design and our mission to make the world more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

This is still in the very early stages but as a creative organisation founded from the love of the artistic methods and technical ability in sculpture, we are currently focusing on therapeutic creativity and the arts.

As art of our exploration into what our local communities will benefit from we held an event at Hebden Bridge Town Hall last Thursday. We partnered with a good friend of mine, the amazingly talented Dave Draws, who held a hands-on doodle map workshop. As the event was sponsored by Sculpt it was free to attend and was held over the easter break to give a fun, interactive activity for kids as well as adults.

We had a great mix of people attend, from big groups of families with children who were barely old enough to hold a pencil, to adults who attended on their own in between the weekly shop. Some were local and we even had a family from Birmingham who were in Hebden Bridge visiting family!

My favourite quote from the day was from a young boy who said simply ‘I love art’.

Here’s some images from the event below, also take a look at the short video posted on LinkedIn last week.
